The History of Allied Capital:
Building American Companies
Allied Capital has invested more than $13 billion in thousands
of companies across the United States over the last 50 years.
Today Allied Capital enjoys a strong industry reputation for
being a value-added, flexible financing partner. At December
31, 2007, our portfolio included investments in 120 companies
that generate aggregate annual revenues of over $13 billion
and employ more than 95,000 people.
Historically, we have also been an active investor in commercial real estate securities. From 1998 through early 2005, we invested in commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) and real estate-backed collateralized debt obligations (CDO). In May 2005, we successfully sold our portfolio of CMBS and CDO investments and are not currently investing in these types of real-estate related securities.
